Comparison of Virgin Active gym outlets in Singapore

I’ve been a Virgin Active gym member for about half a year and I’ve been to 4 out of 5 of their outlets so far. A few have asked me which is my favourite place and I didn’t really have an obvious answer, so I wanted to compile what I like and don’t like about each outlet! These are just biased opinions based on my own personal experiences and liking, so take them with a pinch of salt!

SORRY, there’s no pictures as I did not take photos at every single outlet for this post.

Tanjong Pagar

I started my gymming journey at this outlet so more or less I do feel some attachment towards VA Tanjong Pagar. And I do train here more often because I engaged a PT at this outlet! Her name is Vanessa btw! (If you’re keen, do contact her at 96673937 for a non-obligatory free trial and quote my name MONICE)

Things I like:

⁃ Rooftop pool (but I’ve recently stopped going there as it’s too hot and no wifi, but vibes are 1000000)
⁃ NO stairs, its easy to navigate around
⁃ It’s right above the MRT with many food places around
– The gym space is pretty big with a lot of equipment and there are a lot of rest areas

Things I don’t like:

⁃ The changing room is a little small compared to others
⁃ Limited work tables, there are only 3 seats for doing work, and a communal table which is weird if you have to face someone across you.

Marina One:

Things I like:

⁃ This is definitely biased because it’s a direct train ride for me
⁃ It’s a lot quieter even though its at marina area, the crowd disperses almost immediately after lunch hour
⁃ There’s an indoor pool and rock climbing wall (haven’t tried it, but it’s extra facilities)
⁃ There are sufficient work tables in brightly lit area for me to do my work (pretty quiet environment)

Things I don’t like:

⁃ I have to climb 2 flight of stairs just to get to the toilet/ changing room and it’s really annoying considering that I usually complete 2 intense workouts and have no more energy
⁃ The gym space is a little small
⁃ It’s not sheltered from the MRT (maybe there’s a route but I haven’t figured it out yet)

Paya Lebar:

Things I like:

⁃ It is considerably empty even during lunch hours. (I was shocked that there were only 2 pax for GRID class at 12pm?!)
⁃ Extremely near a mall so there’s plenty of food options as well
⁃ The gym is not that big, but it’s easy to move around without stairs

Things I don’t like:

⁃ There are not much facilities like swimming pool, salt room etc.
⁃ The entire gym is super cold for some reason, I was even freezing in the toilet cubicle
⁃ Work tables are quite limited but luckily there’s not much people anyway

Raffles Place

Things I like:

⁃ There are a lot of work tables around
⁃ I think it is one of the nicest branch except for the inconvenience of the stairs
⁃ There are actual changing rooms with curtains in the locker area and is very spacious
⁃ My favourite class is available at this outlet – Cycle – THE TRIP

Things I don’t like:

⁃ The whole gym has 3 different levels, and it’s troublesome to climb the stairs to go to different workout stations especially after an intensive workout
⁃ The workspace area is kinda dark and the entire gym is SUPER COLD (I have to bring a thicker jacket or pullover when I visit this outlet)
– The changing area is lowkey quite smelly, and I think it’s like some drainage issue but I can smell it from the yoga area and it’s quite bad

So I guess, these are the things which I’ve noticed during my gym visits!

Also, till today, I have not tried the sleeping pod even a single time!
