I have been resisting supper for the last few years as much as possible but the two things that I tend to succumb to are açai and yogurt.
While açai stores used to be my to-go places especially after a workout, I find that they are too overpriced, and I could easily prepare my own açai bowl at home with easily accessible ingredients from the supermarket.
So I started searching and found Smoof (Available online, FairPrice and on other platforms like RedMart). They have both the pulp and sorbet available. Pulp usually requires blending while the sorbet is ready-to-eat.
Taste wise, it’s quite tart and refreshing. I find that the açai texture and taste are also very similar to those sold in açai cafes, and it’s perfect that I don’t have to spend $10 on a small cup anymore.
Honestly, acai is superior to ice-cream (ice-cream lovers please don’t hate on me). Ironically, sorbets usually do not appeal much to me, well… except for açai.
I usually buy the Pure Açai tub from Smoof but I’ve recently found out about the zero-sugar açai which is absolutely great for my fitness needs. Less sugar = less calories!! For the zero-sugar, it just tastes significantly less sweet and perhaps a little less sour, it also melts a little faster. But I am willing to forgo that for a healthier choice. I think it complements the toppings really well. However if you’re eating it plain, I would recommend going for the Pure, unless you’re a health junkie.
My açai recipe:
– Smoof açai
– Frozen fruits
– Granola
– Assorted nuts
– Optional: Chia seeds/ Pumpkin seeds
– Pumpkin seed butter (You can also buy almond butter/ any type of nut sauce from FairPrice)
You can just portion and freeze any of these fruits in the freezer for at least a month and conveniently take it out whenever you need (I usually swap around the fruits depending on my mood):
– Strawberries
– Blueberries
– Grapes
– Kiwi
– Banana
– Raspberries
– Blackberries
So if you’re looking for açai alternatives, Smoof is a great choice! I have been snacking a lot on it for the recent nights!
