A lot of DIY workshops in Singapore are known for customising cutesy girly stuff that’s usually more popular among the general public. You’ve probably come across one of these – tufting, candles, perfume, jewelry-making, decoden and so many more.
Not gonna lie, I was quite surprised when I came across this on an ad, wow we can handle REAL animal bones and assemble them in a glass dome filled with dried flowers? Sounds like something my partner would love, and so… I surprised him for his birthday.

There are a few other taxidermy workshops like assembling butterflies and dissecting a live frog, but I wanted something that was cuter and still be able to keep the end product at the end of the day. There are 3 types of skeletons – pigeon, frog (+$1) and rat (+$40).
The workshop started off with a basic introduction of taxidermy as well as a simple guidance of how to begin. To glue the different bones together, you are required to apply resin (which is your glue) to connect the joints together before curing it with UV light. The bones are really fragile so we have to be really really careful while handling it.

After this step is done, it’s time to decorate the dome with dried flowers, moss and logs in any way you like. This is the main part of the customisable aspect as every dome will be one-of-a-kind.

The whole experience was easy to follow, unique and definitely quite unconventional compared to the usual workshops. They also conduct other type of workshops like butterfly dome/ frame, beetle pinning, mice/ frog dissection & preservation.
