Review | Foodieland Japanese Drinks | Milk Tea, Coffee and Jelly Drinks

When your traveling plans to Japan still seem like a far-fetched idea, the closest you can do is to enjoy Japanese products in the comfort of your own home. Believe it a not, there’s always this stereotype that food and drinks that are from Japan are said to be more premium in taste. Well, personally I think this is quite true!

Foodieland which is a local F&B distributor in Singapore, has been known for importing biscuits and fortune cookies from Garden, a renowned brand in Hong Kong. They have recently imported Japanese food and products from Japan in which I have previously shared about their previous launch here too.

Their latest drinks collection Dydo has a great variety of refreshments ranging from tea, coffee to jelly drinks!

Dydo Coffee

If you have travelled to Japan before, you’ll probably find some familiarity in these small coffee cans that can be found commonly in vending machines around the streets. It was my life saviour when the weather got really cold.

I don’t usually take instant coffee but this was nothing like the common coffee brands you find from Supermarkets. It doesn’t have the artificial taste that most instant coffee would have, instead, it was aromatic and fragrant. The coffee is brewed with carefully selected coffee beans from 5 countries with no preservatives and artificial flavouring, which attributed to its superior taste.

My preference for coffee is usually towards the sweeter end, and I enjoyed the lightly roasted blend coffee taste from the original version. The Exquisite Café au Lait also caught my attention with Hokkaido cream as one of the milk ingredients – if you prefer a higher ratio of milk in your latte, this is definitely worth a try.

If you would like to enjoy the hot version of these coffee cans just like in Japan, simply place the unopened can in a bowl of hot water to warm it up.

Jelly Drinks

Jelly drinks really hits the nostalgic spot as I used to buy jelly drinks from my school canteen. It comes in two different flavours – Grape and Mandarin Jelly, both made with 10% juice. This drink is perfect for a hot day as it is super refreshing and has an added natural sweetness to it.

If you find that drinking the normal type is too mainstream, here’s another creative way to enjoy the drink differently with minimal effort.

1) Simply place the whole bottle into your freezer for about 3-4 hours
2) Remove from fridge and thaw for a while if necessary

3) Shake the whole bottle to create the sorbet effect

4) Pour out to enjoy the ice-blended drink

Unsweetened Tea

For those who cannot tolerate sweet drinks with overloaded sugar, their tea series would be a great choice as a thirst-quencher. Pick from the 4 different types of tea – Oolong tea, Jasmine tea, Green tea and Barley tea. Once again, their products are 100% real brewed with no sugar, no preservatives, no artificial flavours and colours added!

You can expect premium quality from the drinks as well. The Healing Time Jasmine Tea is brewed with 4 types of high-grade tea leaves with added chamomile extract which produces a sweet aroma. Dydo tea is also certified by JENI, a high-class tea master.

Torokeru Peach Nectar Drink

Also one of the best-sellers in Dydo, this peach nectar drink has a fragrant peachy flavour that does not taste artificial as it is made with puree extracted from 2 peaches, carefully strained from peach pulp, and consists of 23% real peach juice. This is actually one of my favourite as it is perfect as a refreshing sweet summer drink.

Their products are selling out fast and in limited quantities only. If you’re looking for a healthier version of refreshing sweet drinks, you can order a set to try from Foodieland!
