Hiking 10KM at Macritchie Reservoir Treetop Walk

Macritchie Treetop Walk has been on my bucket list for quite some time and I could finally check this off the list! I had underestimated the distance and effort needed in order to get onto this treetop walk for a instagrammable photo though.

It’s clear that I did not do enough research prior to getting on this hike, and I was in a completely wrong attire and shoes. Previously I visited parks in casual outfits or even dress with slippers. But thankfully I was able to complete the 10km hike without breaking my shoes apart.

Before the start of our hike, we saw so many monkeys around the park! And after posting this photo on my IG, I received messages about me standing/ squatting too near to them as they can get aggressive at times. (oops) I didn’t know that, and thought that they were quite cute, especially the ones that gather like a family.

We started our hiking trail and I was already beginning to regret not wearing sports shoes, because the ground was quite rocky and uneven. It drizzled earlier on, which thankfully made the weather pretty cooling.

There were uneven slopes, short staircases, and loose rocks lying around, but it was still quite manageable to walk. At some point, we even jogged a little to speed things up. It was good that we rushed a little as the treetop walk was going to close soon when we arrived. I wonder how many people get disappointed having to hike 5 km in and 5km out just to realise that they missed the opening hours.

The view was great though there were a lot of people on the bridge. We spammed some nice photos before leaving the tree top area. And to my horror, it was another 6km trail back to the carpark. I wasn’t mentally prepared for it, and honestly thought that we’re done and it would be short walk back to the other side. Guess not!
We made it though! And surprisingly it ain’t so bad after all. It was a really good experience as I never really hiked before. After the hike, I felt like my jogging stamina improved too!
