Nibbies Review | NEW Japanese-inspired Cafe at Telok Ayer with DIY activities

Cafe hopping + diy activity + board games in the same cafe?

That has to be one of the best date ideas ever. For those who find having meals a little awkward on a first date, this might be a good alternative.

Plus, the place has such nice aesthetics with a tatami concept, taking inspiration from Japanese decor.

Let’s talk about the food first. They have a decent variety of sweet and savoury dishes and some unique drink options like the Ube matcha latte and Pistachio latte.

I felt that the toasts were a little underwhelming (decent if I considered that there’s a diy concept in the cafe). But I really enjoyed the mentaiko tater tots as they were really generous with the tobiko. And I’ve never had this combination before.

The drinks are probably the reason why I would return, the flavours come through pretty well and I was so glad that they don’t add any sugar. For the pistachio latte, the nutty flavours were so obvious, to the point it overpowered the matcha a little. So I guess it boils down to preference on how you like your matcha to be.

They have a board and card games section which is free to play. I think this concept itself makes it really worth to visit the cafe as most board games cafe charge a rental fee on hourly basis. And they have popular games like Hawker Wars, Exploding Kittens and Monopoly Deal (and even adult games).

On the other side of the cafe, there is a DIY activity room with really cute toast cushions. When I visited, there were 2 activities – customising your own mini dog plushie and this shaker customisation (not really sure what is it called).

You can dress up these cute puppies with one basic and one premium accessories for $15, and there are many puppy colours to choose from. You can also top up more accessories from $1-2 each. Just glue the pieces together and it’s complete!

For the shaker customisation, you get to customise a transparent acrylic case with as much as charms as possible. It comes in different sizes – $15 for small, $20 for medium, and $25 for large.

Their charms selection includes popular characters like cute random food and animal charms, Crayon Shin-chan, Kirby, Sanrio, Tom and Jerry, Sumikko Gurashi and more.

Honestly, this is such a cute 3-in-1 date idea! What do you think?
