If you’re an ice cream lover, Andersen’s of Denmark is probably nothing new to you. They are well-known for delectable ice cream flavours, fluffy Danish waffles, and their famous ice cream cakes that keeps you coming back for more. Recently, they have launched an all-new menu item which is a Danish-inspired Bingsu – traditional Korean dessert made from ice shavings and topped with with premium Danish ice-cream.
Andersen’s of Denmark has launched 4 tantalising flavours – Mango Blondie, Creamy Cookies, Strawberry Tickles, and Triple Chocolate Fantasy ($14.90 each)
We had a chance to try Strawberry Tickles (A medley of fresh strawberries, blueberries, cheesecake topped with a scoop of ice-cream with fluffy milk snow) and Mango Blondie (Fluffy milk snow topped with sweet and fresh mangoes, cheesecake and a scoop of ice-cream).
The ice shavings were made of actual fresh milk so it was very rich and creamy. In fact, even when the ice shavings melted after we were done with the photos, it was not diluted at all and tasted like milkshake.
We preferred the Mango Blondie over Strawberry Tickles as it matched perfectly with the Blueberry ice-cream that has a hint of tartness. The cheesecake bites that comes with the Bingsu were very rich and filling. Check out the generous amount of fresh mangoes too!
I gave their signature Belgian waffles with their delectable ice-cream selections a try. The caramel flavour caught everyone by surprise at first as we initially thought it was vanilla. For those who prefer something lighter and more refreshing, this caramel might be suited for your palate.
Personally, I’d prefer something more intense and caramelised. But I am in love with Fruit of Forest which is a sweet combination of raspberries and strawberries, it paired really well with the waffles. The texture of the waffles was towards the softer side too.
Check out their Christmas cakes and log cake selections too! For every 100 Christmas log cakes sold this year, Andersen’s pledges to plant a tree through the Plant a Tree Programme with National ParksBoard (Nparks).
For those who are looking to enjoy Andersen’s of Denmark ice-cream but found the normal pint size too large, they are launching the 100ml Dandy cup in 3 different flavours – Belgian chocolate, Vanilla and Cookies & Cream.
On every third Sunday of each month, Andersen’s will have volunteer teachers run workshops based on Danish author Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales. The workshops will be hosted at Andersen’s flagship branch, Jewel Changi Airport, and will feature a storytelling session and a craft workshop followed by free ice cream scoops!
