“Come on, Barbie, let’s go party”
How could you miss the opportunity of visiting a barbiecore pink themed cafe when you’re dressed up in Barbie theme outfits with your girlie. This pink cafe called Planet Plus at Scotts Square is pretty new and we decided to give it a try! The cafe mainly sells croissants, waffles, desserts like ice-cream and instagrammable cakes as well as a variety of drinks including flavoured coffee (very important for me!).
I wore a Barbie pullover to be in line with the whole Barbie theme, matched with a white skirt from The Style Soiree (favourite blogshop brand ever), paired with Barbie bag from ZALORA (Barbie movie wasn’t even out yet when I bought it) and pink boots from London Rag (soooo in loveeee). Can’t miss my high ponytail which I am so into lately.
We ordered 2 croissants, 1 galaxy cake and 2 flavoured coffees and it was about $50. I would say it’s a little pricey for the quality, and we’re quite disappointed that they serve the food in disposable plates and cups which lowered the whole aesthetic and vibes by a lot. It’s a themed cafe after all, and serving food on pretty tableware would make the experience a lot better.
For taste wise, my friend didn’t really like her Unagi Croissant. As for me, I found the Cuttlefish Croissant to be somewhat disappointing considering its price. The coffee was also a letdown as it mainly tasted like syrup rather than the rich coffee flavour I was hoping for. The only saviour of the day was the Galaxy cake, though a whopping price of $12.90 per cake, I thought it was worth it for the novelty and taste. The cake had a velvety smooth texture, and the glimmer on top was simply enchanting.
I notice that they sell a huge variety of artisanal cakes as well, which is probably their speciality.
The cafe offers numerous photo-taking spots, and thanks to its spacious layout, we were able to take photos without feeling self-conscious or receiving any awkward stares from other customers.
If you’re in search of furniture and home decor, you’ll find a wide selection of tables, chairs, and intriguing displays to explore. However, I must admit that the prices are on the higher side. Nevertheless, the idea of selling furniture in a cafe, similar to my experience at Void Cafe, is quite a cool concept.
