What’s that ONE thing you really want to indulge in when you’re constantly stuck at home during this period? I have plenty on my list, but I have been yearning to have seafood for the longest time! Having constant home cooked meals might become a boring affair after so many days, and it’s great to have a sinful treat once in awhile!
Circuit Breaker ain’t gonna stop me from satisfying my cravings! Especially when it’s one of my top favourites – Black Pepper Crab! I usually enjoy seafood feasts in restaurants, but to enjoy within the comforts of my home – this is truly the first time. It does adds on to the pleasure of enjoying your food without the constant need to care if you’re looking glam!
If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion, or simply wish to indulge in a good and satisfying meal to reward yourself, 8 Crabs has all it takes to provide you with good quality and fresh seafood air flown daily, cooked and delivered in 1 hour right to your doorstep.
Being the supplier of wild catch crabs in Sri Lanka with its premises strategically located near Singapore, 8 Crabs promises meatier and bigger crabs with better taste! Dead crabs are also discarded to ensure that they are able to provide the freshest crabs to you in honour of allowing their customers to enjoy a luxurious 5-star meal in the comforts of their home. Apart from their signature Sri Lankan Crabs, 8 Crabs also delivers a good selection of Zi Char delights ranging from Curry Fish Head to Sweet and Sour Pork. And trust me, you’ll be spoilt for choice – because I had a difficulty deciding what to order as well.
You might be thinking… Wa… having Crabs for dinner at home? Isn’t that expensive?!
I was really surprised when I saw that the prices of the Crabs start from $68 (800g). The prices vary according to their size and they are all fixed, which means that you won’t have to worry about hidden charges when you cart out your order.
Award-Winning Black Pepper Crab (Large)
The pincers were delightfully meaty and the black peppery taste gave an extra kick to the flavours. Mmm loving it! The gravy was not too overwhelming with the right amount of spiciness in it. I also love the mildly sweet aftertaste and I couldn’t help but pour some of the gravy into my bowl of rice. (Am I just the only one who do that?) And yes, of course not forgetting, to dip my fried Man Tou generously into this plate of peppery goodness. The meat of the crab is firm and juicy with the right amount of texture, possessing all the qualities of a decent and fresh crab dish!
I also appreciate that most of the shells were cracked beforehand, so we didn’t have to battle with the crab on our dining table. Considering that most households may not have the right tool to crack open the shells, this is a rather thoughtful gesture.
The Fried Man Tou was not too crispy. But to be fair, we did took a considerable amount of time taking photos. And it was still really fragrant and pairs well with the black pepper sauce.
We enjoyed the rest of the dishes as well – Premium Pork Ribs King and Sweet and Sour Fish Slices which were great complements to our delicious and sumptuous dinner.
The prices were pretty reasonable and overall, the meal exceeded my expectations as I have really high standards of black pepper crabs (especially when my favourite crabs are from highly established seafood restaurants). The delivery was very prompt and almost on the dot at 6pm too!
