I have been blogging quite a number of food reviews in the past, but I came across a really interesting restaurant that I would like to share!!
DIY PANCAKES @ Slappy Cakes
(Because eating pancakes by itself is just too mainstream)
Oh, they are just my absolute love! Fluffy delicious pancakes is always one of my top all-time favourites! The same goes for Waffles too!
But I have never imagined myself “drawing” with pancake mix! Drawing on paper, canvas, walls and even cakes, yup I’ve tried all those before. But doing pancake art? That’s something new for me! And I was so looking forward to it!
At Slappy Cakes, you can order from 5 different pancakes batter flavours – Buttermilk, whole grain, peanut butter, chocolate, zucchini for $8 each! It would be perfect for groups of 4 or more as you get to try out different flavours.
We ordered Buttermilk (The essential one for pancake), Chocolate (for the colours), and Peanut butter.
And there are so many toppings to choose from!!! Some of my favourites – Strawberries, Choc chips, Hazelnuts, WHIP CREAM!!!! I can’t believe we focused on every sweet toppings hahaha. *Sweet tooth* I should try out the savoury toppings in the future!
There’s also a variety of ALL DAY BREAKFAST for you to choose from if you’re being pulled into Slappy cakes but unfortunately you don’t really enjoy pancakes as much hahaha. Just like my dad.
YESSSS! We’re all ready for some pancake drawing wooooo!!! We’ve got all the toppings ready!
I think I sound really overexcited but it’s ART AND FOOD! How to not love?!
I’ve probably got some talent in drawing haha, but drawing on this stove didn’t seem as easy as I expected. Pardon my not-so-cute drawings hahah.. But practice makes perfect!
Here’s my first attempt of drawing a girl teddy bear! With strawberry as its ribbons and choc chips as its eyes and nose.
I’m showing you my best 2 drawings first, because the rest are just not up to standard. HAHA
Kitty says MEOW.
And here’s my chinese name! So calligraphy-alike hahaha (:
My dad drew this face hahaha 😉
My bro suggested the game of tic-tac-toe, but because the surface area was so small, the pancake had a cookie texture when it overcooked. But what is good about Slappy Cakes is that their pancake don’t get burnt easily even when you cook it for very long!
I really love this new and unique concept of drawing your own pancakes and then eating it!
It really brings the dining experience to a whole new level! Not only is it perfect for family outings with kids, but it can also be a fun and interesting session with a group of friends where you can share your talent and drawing ideas on the dining stove.
Although the pancakes were not super fantastic, I think that the creative concept compensated for the quality. But I feel that it could have a much better experience if the pancake colour choices can be expanded and provide us with a variety of colours – perhaps pink for Strawberry flavour, green for Pandan, etc etc.
After all, the colours were only limited to beige and brown, which could add up to a rather dull image if not for the toppings added.
Overall, I enjoyed myself to the fullest and I can’t wait to be back for more! Surprisingly, not mainly for the food but the FUN! Just you wait, I’ll make sure that I create nicer pancake art! (:
