Movie Review: Despicable Me 2 (2013)

I’m so happy to watch Despicable Me 2 before the movie was released! That’s because my boy noticed that GV had sneak previews on Sunday and we managed to book our tickets online! I seldom feel that excited to watch a movie, with a few exceptions of Alvin & Chipmunks, Ah boys to men, etc.

Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of minions in the past, and I didn’t even watch Despicable Me 1 when it was in the theatres. When I heard about the Banana song, I found it quite annoying. One day, I just decided to watch it on the computer and fell in love with the movie, oh, and of course the MINIONS! They are so irresistibly cute and funny! I like minions so much I even did a nail art tutorial on it here: http://mons-diary.blogspot.sg/2013/06/diy-nail-art-tutorial-despicable-me.html

So I’m really glad to be able to catch this movie even before the release date! Read on for my review of Despicable Me 2

After the previous encounter of stealing the moon in Despicable Me 1, Gru decided to change his bad ways and focus on being a good dad, taking care of his three girls – Margo, Edith and Agnes.

However, he was kidnapped by Lucy Wilde, an Anti-Villain League agent where he was asked to become a spy to track down a new super-villain. This new villain had stolen a highly dangerous chemical which could be a potential threat as it transforms living things into invincible killing machines. Gru rejected the offer as he wanted to take up the full responsibility of taking care of the girls.

This is one of the funny minion scenes!

When Gru returned to his laboratory, Dr Nefario announced that he missed being evil and had another employment opportunity. Gru decided to take on Lucy’s offer and both of them were assigned to work together as spies in a cupcake shop to track the chemical and arrest the villain.

The rest is for you to find out (:

And now PICTURES OF THE MINIONS!!!

I cannot stand it, they are so funny, mischievous and always doing silly actions. Their laugh is quite contagious as well. And their expressions make them look even funnier and cuter. I really like the one at the left pressing on the accelerator. Actually, I like them all! There are so many funny minion scenes in Despicable Me 2 that I really want to watch it again just for the scenes.

Some of my favourite scenes are the singing with fruits in the lab, spraying whip cream into the mouth, gelato scene, and the fire siren part. There’s a lot more but I cannot remember. And that’s why I want to watch again!!

But this part is the best, you can watch it in the trailer at the end!

BI-DO BI-DO BI-DO~~~~

I seldom like cartoons so much, but I think I’m quite addicted to minions recently. Do not expect much from the story line as there would not be much twists and turns in the movie. It’s quite a typical story of Gru turning into a good guy and trying to save the world instead of being the villain. Watch it for great laughs and fun instead! Actually, Agnes (The youngest girl) is also very cute, she does really silly and innocent actions that makes you go “Awww” time to time. Oh, and I like it when minions fight, it’s quite amusing to watch them slap and hit each other. And they are sooo easily distracted. You’re going to meet purple evil minions too!

Overall, it was a great movie for kids and adults, and PERFECT for minion lovers, like me!

And I cannot stop watching this because it’s so funny and cute! I found this on Youtube. It’s a video of all the best minions scenes. Of course there are even more in the movie itself. Anyway this is a combination from 1 & 2.

Enjoy watching!!!
