If you’re looking for the best date idea in Singapore, consider pottery painting to be added in your bucket list! I’ve been to this cafe at Orchard Central (previously named as Walking on Sunshine), but they have been recently rebranded to Clayful Art Cafe, which has a new DIY concept added to their menu – pottery & glass painting.

Instead of having two separate areas for dining and art, they actually allow you to paint while you dine! We preferred to having our meal first before proceeding to the DIY activity as I felt that it’s easier to focus and also less chance of dirtying the food accidentally (I do not want to eat paint).

We had an idea in mind – to paint Bubu & Dudu (famous couple bear and panda), but instead of painting our own, we are painting for each other instead (and it would be a surprise)! I think this idea is really cute for a date idea and we get to keep the gift at the end of the day.

I painted a “bears on a motorbike” to signify our travel adventures around SG, while he painted a “bear water reminder” because it’s a telegram sticker that he has been using multiple times throughout the day to remind me to drink water. I have actually painted on pottery before, but one mistake I made was being too ambitious – I tried to paint the whole eevee evolution within 1 hour. There were too little surface area for me to paint on and it turned out really bad after the glazing. I learnt from my lesson this time, and went for something simpler. Hopefully the final product will turn out pretty!

Aesthetic wise, I think this is a perfect place for a date. The cafe is also beautifully decorated with lush greenery, creating an inviting atmosphere for painting.
