Ever since the dine in ban was implemented, I miss going out to cafes to enjoy coffee and cakes. Not to mention that it also provided an excellent venue for me to be more inspired to write blogs or reply enquiries. Everyone was working from home for the past month, and I had more chances to deliver cakes personally instead of handing them to courier. Since I am already heading out, might as well dapao something home right?
Here are some of the brands that we have tried!
Edith Patisserie
There was an ongoing promotion during the Heightened Alert (15% off) for pickup and we shared a few cakes and a coffee each. The Orh Nee cake was June’s Special, though the flavours were quite authentic, it was still lacking and could easily pass off as a Vanilla cake.
I was really looking forward to their Honey cake, but it was quite a disappointment when I took a bite. The texture was really rough and sandy. The cream and cake also doesn’t really stick well together. But the honey aroma was quite on point.
My favourite was the Raspberry Passionfruit cake, the sweetness and tangy flavours blended harmoniously together. Honestly, I wished that I had more of it after finishing the entire slice. For those that enjoy sour desserts, this is a must-try!
The Iced Valrhona Mocha was also very chocolatey, and I like that the coffee doesn’t have too much bitter notes as I’m a sweet tooth.
For pickup, it’s quite convenient as there is a taxi/car drop off, but you might get chased if you wait too long. Thankfully, the staff also told me to go back to the car to wait and he will bring it out when it’s ready!

Baker’s Brew
I don’t enjoy Yuzu flavours at all, so I won’t be commenting about the Yuzu Pear Swiss Roll – lemon sponge filled with a light and citrusy yuzu cream infused with yuzu pear blossom tea and pear cubes. It does sound very promising for those who can accept Yuzu.
The Pistachio Rose Cake was absolutely delicious, made with roasted pistachio sponge with raspberry chunks, filled with homemade roasted pistachio cream. The Pistachio nutty flavours could be a little stronger, but I love how the flavours complemented each other. The cake texture was quite moist and perfect for my liking.
I went to the Sembawang branch and it’s along a small alley with some parallel parking, there were no parking available that day but thankfully there were no cars so I could stop my car for a little while and quickly pick up my cakes before leaving.

Kele Rollcakes
I’ve been wanting to try Kele Rollcakes for quite some time already, and I couldn’t resist to get 3 boxes at $20 (Basic flavours) when I passed by Vivo City the other day – Strawberry, Mango, Avocado Gula Melaka.
The price is really super affordable, taking into consideration that most swiss rolls cost more, and sometimes a normal slice of cake can easily hit $6-8. Kele Rollcakes aren’t your ordinary swiss rolls too. Their unorthodox flavours have caught my attention several times, and lately they have also launched some new flavours like Black Sesame Peanut (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ITTTT!! And yes, this was the 2nd time I tried Kele Rollcakes!)
Mao Shan Wang Durian is my favourite.. can’t say no to Durian honestly. And best of all, the cake was Charcoal flavoured.
I like how the cakes can be kept for a month in the freezer, because I portion my servings and try not to eat too much in one seating. While the texture is the fluffiest when thawed for at least 20 minutes, I prefer to thaw it for a short while to enjoy the “Ice cream cake” texture.
