La Bu La Ma La Review | My favourite Ma La Place

Having a little bit of a tongue slur when I try to pronounce La Bu La Ma La. But seriously this has been my favourite supper choice lately. Strange how I used to dislike Ma La flavour, but I’ve grown to love it more and more. Ironically though, I prefer Ma La that doesn’t taste that ma (麻), as I don’t really enjoy the numb feeling. And my spice tolerance level is just 小辣,or even 小小辣!

I’ve tried a few Ma la stores from Foodpanda/ Grab but some left me really disappointed, and usually it’s because of the saltiness. There was once when I had to even boil hot water and make it into ma la soup to dilute the flavour because it was so overpowering.

I’ve never visited the physical store before, and it has always been online delivery all these while. And you know what’s the best thing? It is usually opened till late night, so basically I don’t really have many options to choose from and this is the perfect choice left.

La Bu La allows customisation which allows me to select the spiciness level, less oil, less salt, more pepper, etc. My standard order is always – Less spicy, less salt, no celery.

Ma la isn’t really cheap, it usually costs at least $10 to get a decent bowl, and sometimes the portion isn’t even enough for my supper. Their portions are considered quite generous though. I love how the taste is very consistent throughout.

One of their must-try is the Streaky pork. I usually opt for crabstick, mushrooms and cheese tofu as I was concerned about the meat quality. My brother shared that their streaky pork is legit good and wow, I haven’t stopped ordering since. I was really pleased with the juicy and chewy texture of the pork,  and it is comparable to those premium shabu shabu pork at hotpot places!

La Bu La has officially won over my heart and it has become my favourite supper delivery!

Sometimes when I’m so greedy, I even order 2 noodles portion for myself! 😄
