If you ask me, what is one of the more memorable places at Bangkok that I’ve went to, it would be the Sanrio Hello Kitty House Cafe! Having visited different Hello Kitty themed cafes in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea, I feel that this would be one of my top favourite!
The entrance with the huge Hello Kitty head is already totally luring me in and the cafe is huge with 3 storeys. Hello Kitty House BKK is newly opened in around August this year and it has already attracted so many people! It took us about 1 hour plus to get our table, but you can get a Q number first. So that you can walk around the mall while waiting, just make sure you are back there when they call your number!
I’m not a super Hello Kitty fan, but I kinda adore the cute character and because everything is in pink and white (Like my room), it’s definitely hard to resist.
I even intentionally wore a white spag top with pastel pink shorts (newly bought at Platinum Mall) to match the occasion. I was so enthusiastic about this whole cafe that I even brought my Hello Kitty glasses, the thing is.. I left it in the hotel!! ): Such a waste!
You can still get a taste of the food without queuing for an hour at this takeaway counter. Check out some of the cute Hello Kitty merchandise! I was actually quite tempted to get this cup!
Mandatory selfie at the entrance!
The Hello Kitty House is extravagantly decorated with pink Hello Kitty themed designs, down to every little detail, including the tables, chairs, food, and drinks! They also have their own souvenir shop and spa at the lowest level.
So pink and fabulous!
They serve a wide variety of cakes, desserts and drinks at an affordable price – about 100 – 200 baht on average (=SGD 4-8). The pastries had kitty designs on them and I went: I want this, this, this, this…. Actually I want everything!
But we ended up settling with 6 different cakes to split and share so that we can get a taste of more choices. My favourite would be the Rainbow Crepe Cake and the Coconut Cake. The desserts are so Instagram-worthy! It’s a normal situation where my phone/camera gets to eat first, not me!
If you think that character-themed desserts are only for the eyes, and not the mouth. Then you’re wrong! The cakes are actually quite decent-tasting, in fact some of them are really delicious! Totally worth the price for the decorations plus quality!
Rainbow Crepe Cake, Green Tea Cake, Double Chocolate Cupcake
Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Concorde, Coconut Cake |
For drinks, we had the Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Iced Latte (Which tasted sooooo bitter I had to keep adding syrup). I prefer sweet coffees!
If you’re not keen on sweet pastries, you can try their light meal choices like Pad Thai, Salad, Sandwiches or Soup.
Their main selling point is not really about the food, but more of the overall ambience and decorations around the cafe for people to take photos or appreciate.
I think I took more time snapping photos around the place than to really sit down and enjoy my food. Really love some of their pretty decor!
If you’re on the 3rd storey, remember to take a look at the gorgeous Hello Kitty ceiling!
The sofa chairs are one of my favourite part of the Cafe as they look so luxurious and it’s in my favourite pink! I’m falling in love with this place all over again.
Say Hi to Hello Kitty’s Mama Mary & Papa George!
The merchandise looks interesting and cute too! I just felt that it was a little on the pricey side for a non-HelloKitty fan like me.
Whether you’re a woman, teenage girl or a kid, Hello Kitty House Cafe is definitely worth visiting. I love the whole sweet and pastel pink concept with all the details taken care of. Cuteness overload! The cafe is just too awesome that I have to dedicate one entire post of Day 3 just for it!
