After having a dog, it has been a challenge finding suitable places with decent food and pretty ambience to dine out with family/ friends. Cafe De Nicole Flower Cafe is worth visiting if you want to take instagrammable food in a pretty floral setting. Bonus – you get to bring your pup along with you! Aside from my to-go places like Sunray Cafe and Menage Cafe, most pet-friendly cafes are either medicore in terms of food quality or seated outdoors (which is really hot).
Before we even stepped in, the entire outdoor area was already filled with nice-smelling floral scents. And there’s a beautiful floral arch at the doorstep for instagrammable photo-taking opportunities. For those who drive, limited parallel parking is available along the main roadside. We didn’t explore the other side as we were lucky enough to park in the last lot.
Surprisingly, the cafe was pretty crowded considering that it was on a weekday afternoon. But there was only one dog, the rest of the patrons were not dog owners. Kuro, being a 9 month old excited puppy, kept whining to play with the other dog.
We took an extremely long time to decide what to eat as there were a lot of choices on the menu, especially their flower specialty drinks. The prices are slightly on the higher side though, as the specialty drinks cost about $7.80 to $9.80.
After a good 15 to 20 minutes, I decided on the White Peach Oolong with Milk Foam & Lavender ($9.80). The tea by itself was quite bland but the milk foam added a sweet balance to the drink, which reminded me of Gongcha Milk Foam BBT, and the lavender flowers elevated the taste with floral notes. However, the lavender flower bits got mixed into the drink and was quite bitter when I bite into one.
Serene had the Swan Lake ($8.80) – Earl Grey Latte with Honey & Butterfly Pea, which contributed to the pastel hues of blue. The drinks are generally very pricey, while they are quite pretty for photos and decent in taste, it’s not exactly worth the price point.
Instead of going for the mains like Smoked Duck Waffles or pasta, we were tempted by the specialty souffle pancakes. So we ordered 2 brunch sets and a souffle pancake for sharing. I had the Salmon Scrambled Eggs Croissant ($12.90) and Serene ordered the Salmon Brioche ($12.90). While mine had a more generous portion, her dish was definitely much more presentable for the camera! Love the Salmon ‘rose’. It’s not the best croissant I’ve had though, and missing a little on the crispiness.
The Strawberry Pancakes ($19.90) were lovely for photos, but fell short in terms of texture. Fair enough, I didn’t enjoy them immediately when it was served, but the pancakes were not very fluffy based on Serene’s verdict and I have had better ones at more affordable prices.
While the food at Cafe De Nicole Flower Cafe isn’t the most delicious or affordable, I will probably still return to this cafe as I am able to bring Kuro indoors and away from the hot sun. Besides, the food quality is still considered decent and instagrammable, just a tad pricy!
