Work-Friendly Cafe Series | +82 Plus Eight Two Cafe @ Rendezvous Hotel

After discovering that taking downtown line to Bencoolen is the fastest way to reach town from my area, I find myself more inclined to cafe-hop around the area. When I was walking to the MRT the other day, I chanced upon this quiet and spacious cafe located at Rendezvouz Hotel called Plus Eight Two Cafe. I came back another day to check it out to see if it’s work-friendly and it turned out to be a really nice space to do your work especially if you need to use your laptop.

There were barely anyone throughout the entire weekday afternoon, and I could peacefully do my work for a couple of hours without weird stares or fear of hogging the seats.

The menu was also quite extensive with a nice variety of mains, sides, cakes and drinks. On top of the usual coffee selections, they also had fruit juices, matcha, chocolate, injeolmi latte, and a range of herbal tea.

I had the Jjajang Ramen ($7.9) and Caramel Latte ($7).

The Caramel latte wasn’t what I have expected, I was hoping the caramel to be more prominent to cover up the bittersweet taste of the coffee. I can’t comment much on the coffee beans since I’m not really a legit coffee drinker. I thought it was decent, but it wouldn’t be something that I will crave for.

There were a few kinds of ramen on the lunch menu – Korean Ramen, Bibim Ramen, Buldak Ramyeon and Jjajang Ramen which I have ordered as the staff told me that it’s non-spicy and served hot. It’s a really simple dish, almost like comfort food which can be easily prepared at home. It’s nothing over the top, but I have no complaints – the noodles were springy and the overall flavours were fragrant. But once it was left out for too long, the noodles started to clump together.
I’m not sure if I will visit this cafe again anytime soon. As much as the convenience and spacious setting make it a conducive space to do work, the drinks don’t appeal much which is an important factor for me.  Work-friendly Cafe Review:
