We just went for dog viewing at FFL yesterday! Because… we’re actually considering to get a dog! Anyway, it wasn’t really a impulsive thought because R always wanted one his entire life. I just find that with my current work situation which will be a long term basis, makes it suitable to have one right now. Yes & I am aware it comes with lifetime commitment.
When I was young, I always dreamt of having pets, especially dogs. It was such a strong desire to the extent that it was the first thing on my to-do list if I were to move out when I grow older. Furry pets were on my list too, if dogs were not an option available. And I would pester my mum to let me keep hamsters or guinea pigs because it seemed ‘easier’. The idea was rejected for a couple of reasons, such as commitment and sinus issues that my family members have. I remembered being sad back then, but I was glad my mum didn’t give in, because I wasn’t capable of taking care of a living animal. The desire gradually died down because I knew that I didn’t have sufficient time and energy for a dog.
With my current work schedule on a long-term basis (not due to COVID), I have a lot of time at home, so the dog wouldn’t be left alone for long. But of course, at this point of time we’re still considering many aspects and doing more research about keeping a dog. We definitely want to make sure that we’re ready for one.
I was browsing online for different pet shops and came across FFL.sg where they emphasise on importing ethically bred puppies from overseas. I enquired and let them know our concerns, and they were really patient with their explanations. Responses were super quick and in great detail unlike some places which didn’t really answer my doubts properly. Hence, we decided to go down to the shop to have a chat with them!
The owner seems quite sincere and knowledgable about dogs, at least that was the impression that was given to us! He gave us some understanding about different dog breeds, and told us about the importing details. I like that the pet shop doesn’t have any cages to restrict the pups, and most of the pups are actually already reserved really quickly!
We really wanted pomsky or Japanese Spitz but upon further research, these breeds require extra grooming efforts and they shed quite often. They are super cute though! So we’re currently considering the hypoallergenic breeds (multipoo types) such as Cavoodle, Yorkiepoo (but it’s not common in the shop), and other poodle breeds. We’re also aiming for the black coloured pups! I really like Maltipoo but R doesn’t prefer so we’re still coming up with a compromise.
We’re really excited with what’s coming soon!
Here’s a few type of breeds that we like! (Pics are found from Google) Still open for more options!
