I haven’t been doing food reviews for quite awhile, so here you go!
Marché Restaurant – 313@Somerset
Having heard of many friends raving about this, I am tempted to give it a try too!
Marché Restaurant is a original Swiss restaurant that has a countryside feel with the wood decor. On level 1, you are only able to see a bread counter, but to your right, there is actually a stairway down to the restaurant.
I really love the decor of this restaurant. Away from the urban and modern feel, the place resembles a countryside marketplace with fresh and delicious food.
When you enter the restaurant, the staff will pass each of you a Marché guest card to order your food. (Do not lose the card or else there will be a penalty charge!)
Instead of paying cash at every single counter, you can just pass them your guest card to swipe. It’s so convenient! At the end of your meal, you just have to return the card to the cashier and make your payment according to the value charged in this card.
And there is free seating, just don’t sit at the “reserved” ones!
For a meat lover like me, I don’t usually go for vegetables. But they look so fresh that I would really love to try it someday.
The drinks are already prepared and categorized on these barrels. So just grab & go! (But pay first!)
The drinks are a little pricey in my opinion. About $4.90 for an ice lemonade and about $8 for fresh juices. And the lemonade is just average in my opinion, nothing fancy about it.
Rosti with Chicken Cheese Sausage
S$14.90
It’s tough to resist the smell coming from the Rosti counter. Even though I had no idea what it was, the smell was too addictive. And to our pleasant surprise, it’s basically a shredded potato pancake that is fried till crispy and had the taste of Hashbrown. Even without any toppings or sauce, the Rosti was good to go! After searching online, I then realized that Rosti is a Swiss dish that is originally a common breakfast eaten by farmers, and now a common dish all over Switzerland.
Highly recommended for potato lovers. Awesome!
The only thing that I regret is to order Chicken Cheese Sausage, because that one sausage cost an extra $7++ (Not worth it at all), while a plain Rosti would only cost $6+ which is almost half the price of what I ordered. I would probably order this as an appetizer to share and then order my main dish else where!
Pork Knuckles (Halfed)
S$23.90
I don’t like pork knuckles (Too oily for my liking), so it’s hard to give a fair review on this dish. But boyf thinks it’s not bad! Judge for yourself (:
I wouldn’t mind going back to Marché Restaurant again to try the desserts, especially the crepe! Although the prices may be a little more expensive than some other places, it is still considered under the affordable range as the standard was decent for the stuff that we have ordered. Besides, Swiss food is not common at other restaurants. Given the ambience, price and food wise, this restaurant is definitely worth a try!
