“Die, live, and repeat” is such a simple plot idea, but it is not really easy to make the story plot such a successful one. Trailers seldom leave me such a strong impression, but Happy Death Day was kept at the back of my mind because sadistically, I really love the idea that she had to painstakingly find out the killer behind all this mystery.
For those who are afraid of gory movies, there is minimal gore and violence as every single kill pretty much caused a quick death for Tree. The story plot is simple but I thought there wasn’t any boring moments and I was kept captivated throughout the movie.
The baby mask is also really sinister-looking and creepy.
Happy Death Day is one of the best thriller movies I’ve watched since the longest time. Will I watch it again now that the twist has been revealed? Maybe.. just to analyse the killer from the start till the end. But seriously, it’s a damn good thriller, bet you wouldn’t disagree right?

Throughout the movie, it didn’t occur to me that Lori was the killer. I was probably too focused on all the jump scares and intensity of the plot that I failed to realize it made perfect sense for Lori to be the one behind all these killing. Were you able to guess who is the killer?
1. Tree never treated Lori well from the start. She was such a mean bitchy roommate, and prolly to everyone else.
2. Lori was pretending to be really nice to Tree even though she was such a mean bitch. In reality, will there be someone so forgiving? Maybe yes, but it’s rare.
3. Now that I recalled, there was a major giveaway clue in the explosion scene where the killer ignited the car fuel with a birthday candle. And guess who else uses candles in the whole story plot? Lori with her never-ending birthday cupcakes. Can’t believe that didn’t occur to me at all.
4. Lori was one of the few possible suspects that could hide in Tree’s bathroom when she tried to lock herself in the room to stay safe. I mean, who else could have easy access and be aware of her whereabouts the entire time. Who else could be more suspicious than her roommate?
5. Another obvious clue – Lori works in the hospital where she would have easy access to the release of the serial killer.
The only question that left me pondering… why was Tree granted unlimited lives to solve her own murder? This question was never addressed till the end and I could only assume that she was lucky enough and also given a chance to correct her wrongs.
I also love the happy ending which gave my heart a mini drop when I thought that she had to restart her day again after Lori was killed. Turned out that it’s just a harmless prank played by Carter.
